Artist Statement
Creating pastel paintings helps me to forget the dark side of the world, and to instead focus on the beauty that surrounds us. I share my paintings to offer you the same distraction--and to transport you to a place of joy!
Pastels are sticks of colored pigment. I love the sensual, tactile feel of applying brilliantly colored powders onto the paper. I focus on landscapes, which helps me both share my love of nature and to express harmony in the world.
I attempt to translate the light playing with how its brilliance contrast with the dark areas of a scene. It is the key to creating atmosphere in a painting and capturing the emotion of the viewer.
